S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 may be banned in Russia - rosmedia
Kyiv • UNN
The Russian State Duma is considering banning S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 because of the developers' support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Players may be prosecuted for “extremism” and “justification of terrorism.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl may be banned in Russia because the developer GSC Game World supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is possible that the game's players could be prosecuted under the articles of extremism, justification of terrorism, etc. Anton Gorelkin, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, told one of the Russian media outlets, UNN reports.
I believe that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has every chance of being officially banned in Russia. I don't think this will happen based on the fact that the developers of the video game support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But I do not rule out that if after its release illegal information (extremism, justification of terrorism, incitement to ethnic hatred, etc.) is found in the game content, the most severe measures will be taken
The deputy added that if prohibited information is found in the game, those who are found to be involved in the dissemination of this information may also be held liable.
The lawyers emphasize that even the buyers of the game may face criminal penalties.
