Small and medium-sized businesses took out more than UAH 123 billion in loans with state guarantees: what the largest number

Since December 2020, 38,739 loans worth UAH 123.4 billion have been issued in Ukraine with state guarantees for SMEs. As of August 1, 2024, 29 banks were servicing 19,845 loans worth UAH 68.4 billion.
Since December 2020, Ukraine has issued 38,739 loans worth UAH 123.4 billion with state guarantees to support micro, small and medium-sized businesses, the Ministry of Finance reported on Friday, UNN writes.

"As part of the support for micro, small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, since the beginning of the use of the state guarantee instrument on a portfolio basis since December 2020, 38 739 loans have been issued for a total of UAH 123.4 billion," the ministry said.
As of August 1, 29 lending banks are reported to be servicing 19 845 loans for UAH 68.4 billion. Principal obligations partially covered by state guarantees on a portfolio basis amounted to UAH 30.8 billion. This is about 65% of the total limit of guarantees provided (UAH 47.7 billion).
In July, 651 loan agreements for UAH 2.2 billion were concluded, with the share of principal obligations guaranteed by the state amounting to UAH 1.1 billion.
Since the beginning of martial law on February 24, 2022, 33,591 loan agreements have been concluded for the amount of UAH 113 billion.
The largest volume of loans is serviced in the regions:
- in Kyiv - 2 354 loans totaling UAH 8.3 billion;
- in Dnipropetrovska oblast - 1 560 loans for UAH 5.1 billion;
- in Lviv - 1 686 loans for 4.9 billion UAH;
- in Kyivska - 1 257 loans for 4.2 billion UAH;
- in Odesa - 1 229 loans for about 4 billion UAH.
By type of economic activity, the largest number of loans partially secured by state guarantees on a portfolio basis are serviced in the following areas:
- Agriculture - 5 029 loans totaling UAH 29.3 billion;
- wholesale and retail trade, vehicle repair - 8 458 loans for about UAH 18 billion;
- Processing industry - 3 161 loans for UAH 14.5 billion;
- transportation, warehousing, postal and courier activities - 1,124 loans for 2.4 billion UAH;
- construction - 511 loans for UAH 1.6 billion.
