The WHO has recorded 1940 attacks on Ukraine's medical system since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. In 2024, there was an increase in the number of casualties and injuries among medical workers and patients.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, 1940 attacks on Ukraine's medical system have been officially recorded . This is stated in the report of the World Health Organization, UNN reports.

The WHO emphasizes that December 2023, attacks on Ukraine's medical system occur almost daily.

For more than 2.5 years, 86% of all such attacks have been against medical facilities, and a significant number of them have involved the use of heavy weapons

The WHO emphasizes that the statistics of 1,940 attacks is the highest it has ever recorded in any global humanitarian emergency.

According to the organization, 42% of all attacks on Ukraine's healthcare system since 2022 have targeted primary care. At the same time, in 2024, the largest number of injuries and deaths occurred in secondary health care: one in five cases resulted in injury.

The report also notes that last year documented 24 deaths among patients and healthcare workers. In the first 7.5 months of 2024, 34 people died as a result of attacks on medical facilities.

The number of injuries this year exceeded the figures for 2023, as well as the statistics for 2022. It amounts to 229 people.
