Real Madrid captain Carvajal to leave the club after 23 years

Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal is leaving the club at the end of the 2025/2026 season. This is stated in a club announcement, UNN reports.

"Real Madrid and our captain Dani Carvajal have agreed to conclude the magnificent stage of his career at our club at the end of this season. Real Madrid wishes to express its gratitude and sincere affection to one of the greatest legends of our club and world football," the club statement reads.

Real Madrid emphasized that Carvajal is one of only five players in football history to have won 6 Champions League trophies and was part of the team that became the protagonist of one of the most brilliant eras in history.

Carvajal joined Real Madrid in 2002, spending 23 years there. With Real, the Spaniard won 27 titles: 6 Champions League trophies, 6 Club World Cups, 5 UEFA Super Cups, 4 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Rey titles, and 4 Spanish Super Cups.

On an individual level, Carvajal was included in the 2024 FIFpro World 11, received "The Best" FIFA Men's 11 award for 2024, and was named the Player of the Match in the 2024 Champions League final, in which he scored a goal.

Carvajal played 450 matches for Real Madrid, scoring 14 goals. For the Spanish national team, he played 51 matches, becoming a champion of Euro 2024 and the 2023 Nations League.

In the 2012/2013 season, Carvajal played on loan for Bayer 04 Leverkusen, with whom he did not win any trophies.

In the current season, the player has made only 22 appearances, in which he did not record any goals or assists. Recently, the "Los Blancos" captain has been frequently plagued by injuries, causing him to miss parts of the season.
