A group posing as Interior Ministry employees is looting homes under the guise of checking documents for an alleged census. The Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council reports that Interior Ministry officials do not conduct such activities.

Information about a group of people posing as Interior Ministry employees  and robbing houses under the guise of allegedly checking IDs ahead of the census has begun to circulate online. The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council  reports that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs do not conduct such activities, UNN reports.

Details

Reportedly, a group of people claiming to be employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs allegedly carry documents and forms with the symbols of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They claim to be checking IDs ahead of the census. 

They ask to provide personal information, including biometric data (take a photo/fingerprint).

 Having verified the information with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Center reports that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs do not conduct such events, and are not involved in the preparation of the census

It is also noted that  no actions are currently being taken to prepare for the census. 

The Center for Countering Disinformation believes that such information injections are aimed at discrediting law enforcement officers and undermining public confidence in government authorities.

 They urged not to give your documents, biometric data or any other personal information to strangers. If you suspect fraud, call the police immediately.
