The Verkhovna Rada has passed in the first reading a bill that will allow prisoners to be released from serving their sentences in case of military service. About it reports UNN with reference to the live broadcast of the meeting of the Rada, which was led by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

"In the first reading, a law was passed to allow certain categories of prisoners to serve. Yes, we need to remove major corrupt officials so that there are no loopholes. Of course, we need to think about drug addicts, but many who want to serve should be given this opportunity," Honcharenko said.

MP Zheleznyak added that 281 MPs voted in favor of the draft law, and that they plan to remove the provision that allows for the mobilization of prisoners for serious crimes before the second reading.
