The Minister of Finance of Ukraine informed the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom about the need to finance Ukraine's state budget deficit in 2025, and the UK assured its continued support for Ukraine.

During the first online meeting with the newly appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom, Rachel Reeves, Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko informed about the need to finance the state budget deficit in 2025, the British side assured Ukraine of its continued support, the Ministry of Finance reported on Friday, UNN writes.

The parties discussed key issues of cooperation between the two countries, as well as Ukraine's needs for the future.

"The cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the UK Treasury has always been effective, and I am sure it will continue to be so," Marchenko said.

The Minister of Finance also noted that the UK is one of the largest donor countries of financial assistance to Ukraine. "Since February 24, 2022, Ukraine has received more than USD 2.5 billion from the United Kingdom for the needs of the state budget," the Ministry of Finance said.

"During the conversation, Sergii Marchenko emphasized the need to finance the state budget deficit of Ukraine in 2025. After all, continuing to counteract the criminal actions of the Russian Federation requires Ukraine to finance the security and defense sector in the amount of more than USD 3 billion per month," the Ministry of Finance said.

The ministry noted that the government is directing all domestic tax revenues, fees, and borrowings to counter the aggressor and bring Ukraine's victory closer.

"The Chancellor of the Exchequer of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom assured Ukraine of her continued support for Ukraine and her readiness to deepen the partnership," the Ministry of Finance said.
