Magnetic storms in April 2026 - when to expect and how to maintain health
Kyiv • UNN
Powerful magnetic storms of G1 and G2 levels are expected in April, peaking on the 10th and 18th. Experts advise limiting stress and changing one's diet.

In April 2026, several waves of increased geomagnetic activity are expected, with the most significant "magnetic storms" occurring on April 4, April 9-11, and April 18-19. This was reported by UNN with reference to data from the Space Weather Prediction Center of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA SWPC).
Details
The agency has already published a 27-day forecast on its official website. All information was presented in a table. It indicates two indicators by which the strength of geomagnetic disturbances is assessed: the planetary A-index (Ap) and the maximum daily K-index. Ap shows the overall level of geomagnetic activity per day, and the K-index reflects the highest intensity of disturbances during the day.
When to expect magnetic storms in April: forecast by dates
According to NOAA SWPC, the first noticeable surge in activity is expected on April 4. This is followed by April 9 and 10, respectively.
The next strong period is predicted for April 18-19. On April 18, Ap 48 and K 6 are expected, and on April 19, Ap 22 and K 5. According to the NOAA scale, G1 storms usually correspond to a maximum K 5, and G2 storms to K 6. In the April forecast, K 6 values fall on April 10 and 18, and K 5 on April 4, 9, 11, and 19.
At the same time, noticeable geomagnetic activity in April 2026 is expected on the following days:
- April 3;
- April 6;
- April 20-21;
- April 25.
It should be noted that NOAA SWPC emphasizes: the 27-day forecast is approximate and may be updated. For the nearest dates, the center publishes separate operational updates and warnings, so it is worth checking current messages before days with increased activity.
What to do when weather changes affect well-being
On such days, doctors advise:
- avoid excessive physical exertion;
- do not take too hot a bath, do not go to the bathhouse
and sauna;
- do not consume alcoholic beverages;
- replace coffee with light herbal tea, compote, or
mineral water;
- give up fatty and fried foods, preferring broths, "light" soups, grains as a side dish, and salads;
- balance sleep and physical activity and sleep at least
8 hours.
