The Ministry emphasizes that officials took at least 30% of the food from the warehouse, reducing the daily food allowance for the military.
Officials of the military unit and one of the businessmen were notified of suspicion under the articles of seizure of property by abuse of office and seizure of military property by fraud or abuse of office (part 5 of Article 27, part 5 of Article 191, part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
The suspects face imprisonment for up to 15 years with confiscation of property.
Supplement
Law enforcement also found out that the "leftover" products were used in another scheme. A representative of a military unit, in collusion with a private enterprise, issued "empty" invoices for the supply of products worth millions of hryvnias that were not actually delivered. And on paper, products that had not been issued to soldiers before they were sold were recorded.
At the same time, due to the offender's forgery of financial documents, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was misled into making full payments for food. At the same time, the offenders misappropriated the cash.
Evidence of misappropriation of at least UAH 5 million has been obtained.
To recap,
The command of a military unit in Chernihiv region reimbursed the state UAH 1.7 million out of almost UAH 39 million of losses identified during the audit.
