Kyiv Metro has received 450 job applications, more than half of them from women, and one woman is currently undergoing training to become a train driver, planning to start working on the red line by the end of the year after completing a challenging 10-month training program.

The Kyiv Metro received 450 job applications, most of which were from women. Currently, one woman is being trained as a train driver and plans to start working at the end of this year, as the training is difficult and lasts about 10 months. This was reported by the Kyiv Metro press service in a comment to a journalist of UNN.

Currently, the subway is recruiting students for the driver's and driver's training courses. In total, we have received about 450 applications, more than half of them are women

- said the press service of the Kyiv Metro.

The company reported that it had received a large number of questionnaires and began to process them. According to the developed mechanism, they first contacted the candidates by phone and then invited them to an introductory meeting. After these meetings, it was determined whether the specialist was willing to work in this area and whether the subway wanted to continue cooperation with him or her. Next, there was a direct interview with the specialized deputy for human resources, which could also be attended by trainers from the structure, as they are involved in training future trainers.

"After a successful interview, a key stage comes - referral for a medical examination, as the main and very important criterion is excellent health. So far, we have sent eight women and eleven men for medical examinations. In addition, one woman is currently studying to become a machine operator. After successfully passing the exams, she plans to start working on the red line at the end of the year," the press service adds.

Training at the Kyiv Metro takes five months of theory and two months of practice, with exams in between.

"After successfully passing the exams, we send the driver or driver's assistant to a three-month internship, during which he or she will work in tandem with an experienced driver. It's similar to getting a driver's license, when you have a category B and need a category C, you need to drive a certain number of hours. It's the same here - you have to drive a certain number of hours. After that, the driver passes an exam to confirm his qualifications, receives a license, and can work independently on the line. That is, for about three months, he works in tandem with an experienced driver," the subway added.
