Ukrainian companies continue to amaze the world with their innovations, implementing cutting-edge technologies across various industries—from bionic prosthetics and cryptocurrency processors to multimedia systems for the automotive sector. At the recent Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon, several of these solutions were showcased, highlighting how Ukrainian businesses, despite the war, are creating products that set new global standards and trends, UNN informs.
Asper Bionics: Bionic Prosthetics of the Future
Since 2017, Esper Bionics has been a leader in assistive technologies, developing prosthetics that use sensors and artificial intelligence to read muscle signals, ensuring natural and intuitive movements unattainable with traditional solutions. Amid the war in Ukraine, the company supports injured military personnel and civilians by integrating its technologies into rehabilitation programs. As of 2024, Asper Bionics has helped over 5,000 users in 15 countries, including Ukraine, and continues to improve its technologies, particularly the tactile feedback function, enabling users to sense textures and pressure.
Luxoft: Ukrainian Technologies in the Automotive Industry
The multimedia system for Mercedes-Benz, developed by Ukrainian specialists at Luxoft, exemplifies the application of advanced technologies in the automotive sector. Leveraging artificial intelligence, the platform enhances driving safety and efficiency by analyzing driver preferences, adjusting vehicle settings, and predicting maintenance needs based on collected data. As part of DXC Technology, Luxoft collaborates with over 200 automotive companies, demonstrating how technology transforms traditional industries. According to company forecasts, by 2030, the number of connected cars will reach 125 million, and the automotive software market will grow to $100 billion.
VSYS: Open-Source Cryptocurrency Processors
Founded in 2009, the Ukrainian company VSYS specializes in web hosting and infrastructure solutions. Its team developed SHKeeper, a non-custodial, open-source crypto processor—a robust gateway for receiving cryptocurrency payments without intermediaries. Made available to the community on GitHub in 2022, SHKeeper operates on users' own servers and supports various cryptocurrencies, including BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, USDT, USDC, XMR, XRP, TRX, BNB, MATIC, and AVAX. Equipped with an API for integration, it is compatible with any other system or CMS. In the fall of 2024, the team added functionality for using external nodes for multi-cryptocurrency transactions. This feature allows users to manage SHKeeper with low-spec servers, optimizing resource usage. The team continues to work on updates and improve user experience.
Reface: Ukrainian Innovations in AI and Entertainment
Reface, a Ukrainian startup founded in 2018, gained global recognition for its app that uses AI to let users swap faces in videos and GIFs in real time. The app has achieved over 200 million downloads in more than 100 countries. Utilizing deep learning and neural network technologies for high-quality video effects, the company is expanding its product offerings into personalized content, interactive entertainment, and marketing. For example, in 2023, Reface launched a platform for brands that allows them to integrate their content into the app, unlocking new opportunities for digital marketing.
CodeUA: A Platform for Ukrainian IT Specialists
CodeUA platform strengthens Ukraine's tech sector by connecting over 300,000 IT professionals with global companies, providing collaboration opportunities in artificial intelligence, blockchain, and IoT and supporting startups with resources and consulting. Moreover, CodeUA helps Ukrainian companies expand their presence in the international market. In 2023, over 500 international contracts worth approximately $100 million were signed through the platform. CodeUA also supports eco-technologies, fostering sustainable development and integrating Ukrainian companies into the global technological community.
Ukrainian companies demonstrate that they are capable of creating innovations that change the world even under challenging conditions. Their achievements in bionics, blockchain, and artificial intelligence highlight the country's competitiveness. This proves that the future of the global tech sector would be unimaginable without Ukrainian contributions.
