A representative of Iran's Foreign Ministry stated that the agreement with Oman on a new route does not concern the reopening or closure of the Strait of Hormuz. He called the agreement a necessary but insufficient condition.
Iran's agreement with Oman on a new maritime route does not mean the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Esmail Baghaei, to the Iranian news agency IRNA, reports UNN citing CNN.

The publication notes that bilateral negotiations are underway between Iran and Oman on a mutual mechanism for managing the strait.
"The agreement between Iran and Oman on a new route is not related to the reopening or closure of the ongoing Strait of Hormuz," Baghaei said, calling the agreement "a necessary condition, but not a sufficient one."
Baghaei explained the closure of the strait as "a violation of commitments by the United States, a US naval blockade of Iran," and added: "Therefore, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is a completely different matter."
