A fire broke out on the premises of the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region overnight on August 22 following a drone attack. ASTRA reported this, citing an OSINT analysis, UNN writes.

Overnight, the authorities of the Samara region declared a UAV threat alert. Local residents reported hearing Russian air defense systems operating and seeing smoke.

Based on footage from eyewitnesses published by the monitoring channel Exilenova+, ASTRA’s OSINT analyst established that the fire occurred on the premises of the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery.

JSC "Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery" is part of the "Rosneft" group. The enterprise has already been targeted in attacks repeatedly.

In particular, following the strikes on April 18, according to Reuters sources, both primary oil refining units at the plant — CDU-11 and CDU-9 — were shut down.

There is currently no information about the extent of the damage to the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery following the August 22 attack.
