In Russia, by August 2024, more than 10,000 reports were drawn up for anti-war statements. The total amount of fines at the end of 2023 amounted to 227.8 million rubles, and 194 people were brought to criminal responsibility.

More than 10 thousand reports for anti-war statements were drawn up against Russians by August 2024. The data on the protocols received by the district courts under Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation for various anti-war speeches was collected by Mediazona, UNN reports.

According to the publication, such protocols began to be drawn up in the first days of March 2022. The first thousand protocols were drawn up in less than a month. By the end of 2022, there were already 5614 of them, and by the end of 2023 - 8590. The ten thousandth protocol was submitted to the court in the first week of August 2024.

The fine under Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code for individuals is 30-50 thousand rubles. As of the end of 2023, the courts imposed a total of RUB 227,837,000 in fines under this article.

Repeated anti-war protests within a year of the first fine are subject to criminal liability. According to the latest data from OVD-Info, such cases have already been brought against 194 people.

The most famous defendant in the case of repeated "discrediting" of the army was the co-chairman of Memorial, Oleg Orlov. He was sentenced to a real term for the second time and then expelled from Russia in exchange for Russians convicted abroad.
