In Montenegro, the former director of the children's camp "Olympic Village", where a 10-year-old boy died in 2023, has been detained. The court ordered her extradition arrest, and the Ukrainian side has initiated procedures for her return to Ukraine. This was reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, writes UNN.
The death of a child is not an episode in criminal proceedings. It is a tragedy for which everyone whose actions or inaction could have led to it must answer
The Prosecutor General noted that today, based on the prosecutor's office materials, a court in Montenegro ruled on the extradition arrest of the former director of the children's camp "Olympic Village", where a 10-year-old boy died in 2023.
After being notified of suspicion, she remained outside Ukraine, so she was placed on the international wanted list.
At the request of the Ukrainian side, Interpol issued a "red notice". On June 21 of this year, the suspect was detained in Montenegro.
Currently, the prosecutor's office is completing the necessary procedures for her return to Ukraine.
This case is a matter of principle for me. When I met with the parents of the deceased boy, I promised that those responsible for his death would be punished
He also emphasized that when a child is in a camp, adults bear responsibility for their life and safety. Not formally, but truly every day and every minute. Parents entrust the most precious thing to such institutions. And if this trust was destroyed, the state is obliged to establish the role of everyone who was supposed to ensure the child's safety.
Fleeing abroad does not cancel responsibility. No country and no border should become a way to avoid justice
The Prosecutor General recalled that the indictment against the camp coach, who is accused of leaving a child in danger, is already pending before the court.
This case is under my personal control. For the boy's family, justice has already been delayed for years. Our duty is to do everything to ensure it arrives
Recall
The tragedy occurred on August 3, 2023, while children were at a football camp on the territory of the sports and recreation complex "Olympic Village". While swimming in the lake, the child was left without proper supervision and died.
According to the investigation, responsibility for organizing the children's stay rested with the coach, who was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abandonment in danger resulting in the death of a minor child). The indictment has been sent to court.
In addition, within the framework of this criminal proceeding, a suspicion was previously notified under Part 2 of Article 271 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to the director of the private company responsible for compliance with labor protection requirements – the football academy "Benfica". Since the suspect is abroad, the prosecutor's office is taking measures to place her on the international wanted list.
