The police have identified a man who mistreated a dog while walking in Kyiv. The offender faces up to three years in prison with confiscation of the animal.

In Kyiv, a man abused and kicked a dog. His actions were caught on video, which went viral on social media. Kyiv law enforcement officials assure that the offender has already been identified and proceedings have been opened, UNN reports.

A video of a man abusing a dog while walking has been circulating on social media.

Police investigators immediately registered this information as cruelty to animals and initiated criminal proceedings under one of the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.     

"The offender has been identified, and measures are being taken to detain him. The law provides for a penalty of up to three years in prison with confiscation of the animal for committing such a criminal offense," the Kyiv police said.

Recall 

In 2023, 178 criminal cases of animal cruelty were opened, which is more than last year. Since 2015, a total of 1599 such proceedings have been recorded.
