Historic decision: the Ministry of Health commented on the legalization of medical cannabis

The Ministry of Health noted that the permission to use cannabis-based medicines in medicine is a historic decision that will benefit a large number of patients, UNN reports.

On behalf of the medical community, we thank you for this decision, as medical cannabis is a medicine for millions of people: cancer patients, people with multiple sclerosis, patients receiving palliative care, etc

Now, the Ministry of Health will approve a list of diseases and conditions for which patients can be prescribed medicines based on medical cannabis.

The Ministry reminded that their release will be possible only upon a doctor's prescription in accordance with medical indications and by electronic prescription. Patients will be able to transport and store such medicines in the amount specified in one prescription.

Medicinal cannabis-based products are authorized in 56 countries, including the EU, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Today, the Verkhovna Rada passed the draft law on medical cannabis (No. 7457) in the second reading. "248 MPs voted in favor. The law will be enacted six months after its publication.
