In Mykolaiv, a 50-year-old man fired a converted pistol from his apartment window to test its serviceability. He now faces up to 7 years in prison.

The police served a notice of suspicion to a man who was shooting from a window in a residential area of Mykolaiv. He wanted to check the serviceability of the gun by firing shots. Now he faces up to seven years in prison. UNN reports this with reference to the Main Department of the National Police in Mykolaiv region.

A 50-year-old resident of a Mykolaiv apartment building  reportedly fired a pistol from a window in the direction of a yard where children were playing. There were no casualties. According to police, the man was intoxicated.

Investigators detained the attacker and seized the weapon and sent it for expert examination.

According to the man, he was checking the serviceability of the pistol, which he had converted from a starter pistol to a combat pistol with his own hands. 

Under the procedural supervision of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office, investigators of the Mykolaiv Police Department No. 2 served the offender a notice of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Hooliganism with weapons" and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives". He faces up to seven years in prison for his actions.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure against the suspect is currently being decided.
