Grossi to visit Kursk NPP and meet with Zelensky in Kyiv in the coming days

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi plans to visit the Kursk nuclear power plant and meet with the President of Ukraine in Kyiv. The IAEA is concerned about the fighting near the Russian nuclear power plant because of old reactors without additional protection.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said he plans to visit the Kursk nuclear power plant in the next few days and then travel to Kyiv, where he plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He said this in an interview with Bloomberg, reports UNN.
According to Grossi, the IAEA is “extremely concerned” about the fighting near the Russian nuclear power plant, as the plant is operating old Soviet reactors. The two power units do not have additional layers of protection to contain radiation in the event of an accident.
“And if you add to that the fact that you have troops advancing, objectively speaking, within artillery range, then of course that is a huge concern for me and for the agency,” he added.
Grossi plans to visit the station in the next few days and then travel to Kyiv, where he intends to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Bloomberg reports.
