Germany seeks to reduce its €20 billion contribution to the EU fund for Ukraine, citing significant bilateral military aid, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Germany seeks to reduce the 20 billion euros in cash contributions euros that it allocates to the European Union fund that finances to the European Union's European Peacekeeping Fund (EPF). This statement has raised concerns in European capitals that that Chancellor Olaf Scholz could thwart future EU attempts to support Ukraine's fight against the Russian invasion.

The publication notes that Germany often complains that member states of the bloc abuse the EPF scheme to send old weapons to Ukraine and use the reimbursement to modernize their military.
