Illegal immigration to Germany has dropped significantly following the tightening of border controls, with the number of illegal entries to the country falling from 700 to 300 per day, with a 56% drop at the Polish border.

The figures for the Polish section of the border: from 6,411 to 2,795 cases - a 56 percent drop. "The introduction of border control has exceeded even our expectations, and this is obvious," - said Saxon Interior Minister Armin Schuster in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
