Kyiv • UNN
Saxony-Anhalt now requires applicants for citizenship to provide a written acknowledgement of Israel's right to exist, as anti-Semitism is a factor in the naturalization process.
The state of Saxony-Anhalt in eastern Germany will require persons who want to become naturalized citizens to confirm in writing that they recognize Israel's right to exist. This was reported by the Central German radio MDR with reference to the statement of the Minister of the Interior of Saxony-Anhalt Tamara Zischang, UNN reports.
Anyone who applies for naturalization in Saxony-Anhalt must now commit to the right of the state of Israel to exist
Details
The decree of the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of the Interior states that the right of the Israeli state to exist is a German state motive. Therefore, applicants for citizenship must confirm in writing "that they recognize Israel's right to exist and condemn any efforts against the existence of the State of Israel."
In addition, it states that naturalization should pay attention to whether there is evidence of anti-Semitic sentiment among applicants.
