Europe should talk to Putin - President of Finland

Finnish President Alexander Stubb believes it is time for Europe to start talking to Moscow, as he stated in an interview with Corriere della Sera, UNN reports.

"There are three possible scenarios: the war continues; a truce is reached, followed by a peace agreement; one of the two sides collapses, likely Russia. I believe that peace is not on the negotiating table, at least not this year," Stubb said.

"If American policy toward Russia and Ukraine does not align with Europe's interests, as I believe, then we must engage directly. Yes, it is time to start talking to Russia. I don't know when this will happen. We have discussed with European leaders who will establish contact, but we don't know yet," Stubb said, responding to a question about whether a joint diplomatic initiative should be launched by opening a channel of dialogue with Moscow.

According to him, "the most important thing is that everything must be coordinated among us, especially between the E5 countries (Germany, France, Italy, the UK, and Poland) and the Nordic and Baltic countries that are on the border."

"Whether it will be a special envoy or a group of leaders, we shall see," Stubb indicated.
