Environmental damage caused by Russia often has long-term and irreversible consequences. Today, the cost of environmental damage is estimated at 56.7 billion euros.

It will take at least 20 years to restore the ecological integrity of Ukraine's territories. However, some completely destroyed ecological systems cannot be fully restored at all. This was reported by DW with reference to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strelts, UNN reports.

Their restoration will take at least 20 years. 10 Ukrainian national parks are occupied, and some unique ecological systems have been completely destroyed and will no longer be restored to their original state

Also, according to Sagittarius, military actions have already led to an additional emission of 150 million tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Therefore, it can be noted that the environmental consequences of Russian aggression are felt far beyond the borders of Ukraine.

In addition, Ukraine ranks among the first countries in the world in terms of the area of mined territories. It amounts to 30%. And the area of forested territories where military operations are taking place reaches almost 30 thousand square kilometers.
