In Khmelnytsky, the driver of a BMW X6, according to police, collided with two cars while intoxicated and drove into a public transportation stop. The accident killed three women at the bus stop.

In Khmelnytsky, a car drove into a public transport stop, killing three people, and police detained the drunk driver, the Khmelnytsky regional police reported on Monday, UNN reports.

The accident occurred today, on November 18, at 07:20, at a bus stop at 9 Zarichanska Street.

"The driver of a BMW X6, moving down Zarichanska Street, made a tangential collision with a Skoda Octavia and a Mazda, after which he drove into a public transport stop. As a result of the accident, three women (60, 56 and 53 years old) who were standing at the bus stop died from their injuries," the police said.

"The driver was driving with obvious signs of intoxication. The police detained him at the scene," the law enforcement officers said.

Investigators opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 4 of Art. 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated, which caused the death of several people) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for 7 to 12 years in prison.
