The days of Ukrainian cinema began in the capital of Azerbaijan with the screening of the film "Home" and the presentation of the Golden Dziga award. The event will last until December 1 with screenings of the films "Mavka.Forest Song "and"Shchedryk".

The days of Ukrainian cinema continue in the capital of Azerbaijan as part of the Cultural Project "New Horizons of Ukrainian culture". Significant moments of the event were the presentation of the prestigious award and the screening of the film "Home".

Details

The opening ceremony was held at Landmark Cinema. After the performance of the national anthems of Ukraine and Azerbaijan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Azerbaijan Yuriy Gusev  and head of the Ukrainian Center in Baku Olga Guseva made a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of cultural cooperation.

We are happy to spend the days of Ukrainian cinema here in Azerbaijan. This is a sign of solidarity and friendship between our peoples

- said Yuri Gusev.

Yuriy Gusev reminded that recently days of Azerbaijani culture were held in Ukraine, so holding days of Ukrainian cinema in Azerbaijan allows building cultural bridges between the two countries.

The ambassador also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Special attention of the guests was drawn to the performance of the outstanding Ukrainian actor and director Akhtem Seitablaev, who presented the first film of the evening – "home".

This is a film about identity, about the connection with the motherland and how important it is to preserve your roots 

Akhtem Seitablayev said.

A significant moment of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Ukrainian Film Award "Golden Dziga". Chairman of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine Serhiy Borodenyuk solemnly awarded Novruz Pashayev, an Azerbaijani director and actor, for his role in the film "La Paliciada".

The days of Ukrainian cinema will end on December 1 with a screening of films: "Mavka.Forest Song "and"Shchedryk".

Admission is free. However, the organizers warned that seats are limited, so they need to be booked in advance.
