British music producer William Orbit, best known for his work with artists such as Madonna, Blur and All Saints, has died at the age of 69, UNN reports citing Sky News.

The Grammy Award winner died at home on July 23, his family and friends said in a statement on his Instagram page.

"We are deeply saddened by his death," the statement said. "He will be greatly missed by us and by many others whose lives he touched through his music, friendship and kindness.

We earnestly ask that the privacy of William's family and close friends be respected during this difficult time."

Orbit produced Madonna's 1998 album Ray Of Light, which marked a move toward electronic music and trip-hop for the American singer and included hits such as Frozen and The Power Of Goodbye. He also worked with the star on her 1999 single Beautiful Stranger from the second Austin Powers film and on her subsequent album Music in 2000.

For Blur, he produced the 1999 album 13, on which the band took a darker lyrical turn and released such hits as Tender and Coffee & TV.

Orbit also brought his ethereal sound to All Saints, producing the 2000 hits Pure Shores and Black Coffee, and worked on the Spice Girls' Mel C's album. Debut solo album, 1999, Northern Star.

Of his solo work, he is best known for his electronic version of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" and the trance remix released in 1999.
