Alexey Smirnov reported on the tense situation in the border area of the Kursk region. Emergency services have been switched to an enhanced round-the-clock mode of operation, and the situation is under control.
The acting "governor" of the Kursk region, Oleksiy Smirnov, addressed local residents and said that the situation in the border area continues to be tense, UNN reports.
"The situation in the border area remains tense. The Russian Defense Ministry and border guards are working... The situation is under control," Smirnov said.
According to him, all emergency services have been switched to an enhanced round-the-clock mode of operation.

On the evening of August 6, the Russian Defense Ministry announced a "breakthrough" of the border in the Kursk region by the 22nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, supported by allegedly 11 tanks and more than 20 armored combat vehicles and a mountain of equipment "destroyed" by them.
