Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 61, signed a divorce agreement on Monday, December 30, according to Jolie's lawyers.

"More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the property they shared with Mr. Pitt, and since then she has focused on finding peace and healing for her family," Jolie's lawyer, James Simon, told People in a statement. - "This is just one part of a long process that began eight years ago. To be honest, Angelina is exhausted, but she's glad this part is behind her.

A source close to Jolie adds: "She doesn't speak ill of [Pitt] in public or in private. She's trying her best to be bright after a dark time.

A Pitt spokesperson declined to confirm or comment.

Jolie filed for divorce on September 19, 2016, a few days after a private jet flight during which she claimed Pitt had abused her and their six children; authorities did not charge him after an investigation at the time, and Jolie declined to press charges.

Four months later, the former couple issued a joint statement saying that they had reached an agreement to settle their divorce privately and would keep further details of their divorce confidential, using a private judge.
