Zelenskiy reports 39 dead after Russia's massive attack on nearly 120 Ukrainian cities. Recovery efforts are underway.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the liquidation of the consequences of a massive enemy attack is ongoing. As a result of the strikes, almost 120 towns and villages were affected , the number of victims increased to 39, UNN reports.

Work is still underway to eliminate the consequences of yesterday's Russian attack. Almost 120 towns and villages were damaged - hundreds of civilian objects... In total, 159 people were injured in this terrorist attack. Unfortunately, 39 of them have been killed so far. My condolences to the families and friends. All the wounded and injured have been provided with the necessary assistance," Zelenskyy said.

The President thanked the rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, employees of public utilities, police officers, "everyone who is now helping on the ground, supporting people, clearing the rubble and restoring normal life."

He also expressed his gratitude to all the world leaders, politicians and public figures who condemned the attack, "journalists from many countries who support our people and tell the truth about Russian evil and our defense."

"Weapons in the hands of Ukrainians are always a defense of life, and every manifestation of Russian terror proves again and again that we cannot delay helping those who oppose terror. We all have to defeat terror together," Zelensky summarized.

On December 29, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine. December 30 was declared a Day of Mourning in Odesa, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions.

January 1 will be declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv.
