Air quality significantly deteriorated in Ternopil region due to fire: the Ministry of Health explained to locals how to avoid chlorine poisoning

After a nighttime attack by the Russian Federation on an industrial facility in Ternopil region, chlorine levels in the air were found to be 4-10 times higher than normal. Local residents are advised to limit their time outside.

As a result of Russia's night attack on Ternopil region, the region recorded an excess of chlorine in the air due to a fire at an industrial facility. This was reported by UNN with reference to a statement by Oksana Chaichuk, Director General of the Ternopil Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

She explained that no pollution was recorded in the morning, as chlorine was in the high atmosphere at that time. However, experts are now recording an excess of the standard of chlorine in the air.

She also urged residents of the region to cover their windows and doors with wet sheets so that the chlorine in the air would bind to water and not get into the room.

Employees of preschool institutions are advised to keep children inside the premises of the institutions. Parents are advised to pick up their children from kindergartens whenever possible and leave them at home until further notice.
