This was announced by the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk on the Day of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, UNN reports .

Oleshchuk pointed out that the enemy is attacking Ukraine around the clock with bombs and missiles, conducting aerial reconnaissance, and attacking with drones every night.

According to him, the Air Force repels attacks side by side with the air defense of the entire Ukrainian Defense Forces. As far as possible, they destroy the enemy's air attack equipment, hit the enemy from the air, and keep the defense on the ground.

Over two and a half years, the Air Force has destroyed more than 8,000 enemy air targets: hundreds of airplanes and helicopters, thousands of cruise missiles and drones. Ukrainian pilots have flown over 20,000 combat missions, most of them involving the combat use of air defense systems.

The Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the Air Force servicemen showed great courage, heroism, professionalism and ingenuity in the efficient and skillful use of modern Western weapons.

During the large-scale invasion, 4475 Air Force servicemen were awarded state decorations for their personal courage and selflessness in the defense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, 47 of them became Heroes of Ukraine, 25 posthumously.
