About 50 people died in Tisa while trying to escape abroad - State Border Guard Service

During martial law, about 50 people have died trying to illegally cross the border across the Tisa River. Border guards regularly detect people with hypothermia during dangerous border crossings.
During the martial law, the Tisa River has already claimed about 50 lives of people who illegally tried to cross the border in this area. This was announced by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon, UNN reports .
"Border guards have repeatedly detected people who had hypothermia when they chose such dangerous journeys to cross the border illegally," Demchenko said.
He also told how many people died trying to escape abroad across the Tisza River.
"We continue to note that there are desperate people who, among other things, choose the border line where it passes through rivers in order to swim or try to cross mountain rivers, which poses the greatest threat to people's health and lives. For example, the Tysa River has already claimed about 50 lives of people who have tried to cross the border illegally in this area during the martial law period," said Demchenko.
