A serviceman of one of the military units of the Ukrainian Navy was served a notice of suspicion of passing information about the unit's command to the enemy.
In Mykolaiv region, a serviceman has been notified of being suspected of passing information about the command of the military unit in which he served to the enemy. UNN reports this with reference to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern region.
"Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Mykolaiv Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region, a serviceman of one of the military units of the Ukrainian Navy was served a notice of suspicion of treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.
It is reported that the pre-trial investigation established that in May 2024, the sailor, acting on the grounds of disagreement with the policy of the Ukrainian state authorities to protect the sovereignty of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, in order to go over to the enemy, agreed to perform the tasks of a representative of a foreign state - the Russian Federation, assisting in subversive activities against Ukraine.
"In pursuit of his criminal intent, the 24-year-old serviceman received and sent completed tasks through an enemy agent's e-mail account in the form of saved text in drafts, which were then deleted after reading. In this way, he passed on to the enemy information about the command of the military unit in which he served," the prosecutor's office said.
However, it is noted that the traitor's illegal activities were soon exposed and stopped by law enforcement, preventing him from completing the remaining tasks.
"At present, the suspect has been imposed a measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail," the statement said.
