Details
Investigators of the Podil Police Department exposed a 41-year-old director of a construction company in Kyiv who, in December 2022, sold low-quality technical salt to utilities. He signed expenditure invoices for contracts for the sale of rock salt to the municipal enterprise "Road Maintenance Department for the Repair and Maintenance of Roads in Podil District", which was needed to sprinkle roads with ice. However, it turned out that the quality of the delivered goods did not meet state standards.
The chemical composition of the salt showed the absence of the necessary de-icing agent. A forensic commodity examination established that the difference between the value of the goods and their actual market value was more than UAH 5.5 million
The man was served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation of another's property on a large scale by abuse of office (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code). The sanction of the article provides for up to twelve years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.
