A fisherman was forced to abandon her boat with the inscription "I am Ukrainian" plastered on it: there was a confusion involving ICF

At the Olympic Games, Ukrainian rower Anastasia Rybachok was not only forced to cover the inscription "I am Ukrainian" on her boat, but also, due to the inconsistency of the International Canoe Federation, she was forced to start with a different boat.

UNN writes with reference to Ukrainian sports news from Suspilne.

Details

When asked why the rower had to go to the start, having lost her boat, which already had the inscription "I am Ukrainian" pasted over it, Anastasia Rybachok answered as follows.

"A situation arose with my inscription, and they were forced to cover it up. Because the media made such a scandal out of it on the Internet, I was basically banned from posting it. I won't say that they are wrong - this rule, as the ICF explained to me, has existed for a long time. As you can see, other countries do not have any inscriptions at all. The problem is that neither the team headquarters nor the ICF knew that no inscriptions were allowed. And when they made me that boat, and they [ICF] knew that I was going to race on it at the Olympics, nobody said anything to me," Rybachok told Suspilne.

Of course, it's a pity that I don't have a spare boat, I only brought one to the Olympics. But thanks to my partner [Lyudmyla Luzan], she has a spare boat and was happy to share it with me [I competed in the qualifiers]

- explained Anastasia Rybachok in a comment to Suspilne Sport.
