The President of Ukraine intends to contact Joe Biden to discuss a possible invitation to NATO. Zelenskyy emphasized that although Ukraine cannot currently be in the Alliance, the issue of the invitation remains relevant.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to call US President Joe Biden soon and raise the issue of Ukraine's invitation to NATO. He told journalists this following a meeting with German chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, reports UNN.

I emphasized to both President Macron and President Trump: first of all, you will see - Putin does not want an end to this war. Therefore, he must be compelled. He can only be compelled if Ukraine is strong. A strong Ukraine before any diplomacy - this is a strong army on the battlefield. This is a strong army, this is packages of weapons, etc., these are long-range systems, of course, and "Atacams", and "Taurus", and "Storm Shadow", and "Scalp". All this is very, very much needed by us. And yes, exclusively for strikes on military targets, we emphasize this.

- said Zelenskyy.

He also noted that Ukraine cannot be in NATO, but an invitation to NATO may be possible.

"In addition, security guarantees. Now we cannot be in NATO, but an invitation to NATO may be possible. And such security guarantees are already needed by us. And we talked about this. And this is how I formulate our opinion. As for the invitation to NATO, it is difficult to discuss this today with President Trump, because he is not yet in the White House, he does not have all these legal rights. I plan to call President Biden soon, if he has the opportunity to talk to me, and raise the issue of the invitation to NATO," Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy explained that Biden is currently the acting US President, and much depends on his position.

"And there is no point in discussing with President Trump what today, while he is not yet in the White House, does not depend on him," Zelenskyy said.
