Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha stated that partners must not yield to Russian threats of new strikes on Kyiv and other cities. Sybiha made this statement during a press conference with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the head of the United Transitional Cabinet of the Belarusian democratic opposition, reports UNN.
"Our reaction was demonstrated today as well. I personally invited 70 heads of diplomatic missions to visit the sites that were hit by a massive missile strike the day before yesterday. On the one hand, this is an opportunity for them to see the consequences of this terror, because civilian objects were targeted, and on the other hand, they also saw that less than a day had passed, and our services are now so skilled that the Khreshchatyk metro station has already been restored,"
He stated that Ukraine is discussing with partners the necessity of not giving in to Russian blackmail.
"We have been through all of this before and we know: when he (Putin - ed.) ramps up this rhetoric, he is escalating, trying to influence the so-called Western mentality—whether it's nuclear threats or joint exercises on the territory of Belarus,"
The Minister stated that such actions by Russia are a mockery of all peace efforts and noted that the Russian leadership shows no signs of interest in the peace process.
"He needs to save his country now, which will not succeed. And we discussed this firm reaction with our partners—not with words, but what we can specifically do now: show that Europe is not intimidated, show that we already know how to react to such threats—proportionally and with force. And I am confident that this situation will allow us to receive additional solidarity packages and concrete support,"
As a reminder,
Russia is launching "consistent systemic strikes" on Ukraine's military-industrial complex enterprises in Kyiv. The corresponding statement was released by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which urged foreigners to "leave Kyiv as soon as possible."
