"Ukraine has the right to self-defense": NATO Secretary General reacts to strikes on russian territory

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine has the right to strike legitimate military targets outside its territory in self-defense against russian invasion, in accordance with the UN Charter.

Ukraine has every right to strike at enemy infrastructure outside its territory. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, UNN reports .

Details

Stoltenberg noted that it was russia that invaded  Ukraine in flagrant violation of international law, and Kyiv has the right to self-defense enshrined in the UN Charter.

"And we have the right to help Ukraine defend its right to self-defense without dragging NATO members into the conflict. And Ukraine has the right to self-defense, including strikes against legitimate military targets outside of Ukraine to protect itself

- said the NATO Secretary General.

Earlier, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that the Ukrainian army should focus on striking russian targetsthat have a "direct impact on the war" rather than attacking oil refineries on enemy territory.  

Recall

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kyiv has never used weapons from its Western partners to launch strikes on russian territory. According to him, all attacks deep into russia are carried out exclusively with Ukrainian-made weapons.
