Ukraine is considering the possibility of sending expert groups to provide direct assistance in strengthening the security of Latvia's airspace. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, after a conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže, reports UNN.
"On the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, we are also considering the possibility of sending groups of Ukrainian experts to provide direct assistance in strengthening the airspace security of our friends against any types of incidents,"
The Minister noted that Kyiv has already expressed its apologies to all three Baltic countries – Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania – as well as Finland – for the unintentional incidents caused by the redirection of Ukrainian drones by Russian EW systems.
"Our specialized agencies are working closely together to minimize the risks of such cases recurring,"

Earlier, Sybiha stated: if it is confirmed that these were Ukrainian drones, intentionally diverted from their course and directed toward Latvia by Russian electronic warfare (EW) means, "we will express our sincere apologies to our Latvian friends." The Foreign Minister emphasized that Ukraine has never directed any drones toward Latvia.

As a reminder
On May 7, drones entered Latvia from the territory of the Russian Federation, two of which crashed. One drone hit an empty tank at an oil depot in the city of Rēzekne.
