According to the publication, police in the eastern German state of Thuringia announced on Sunday the arrest of two men who were impersonating police officers and driving a decommissioned patrol vehicle.
According to the investigation, witnesses saw a police car with two uniformed men driving through the village of Langenwetzendorf in the Greiz district.
The vehicle remained in its original form, with all police markings and flashing blue lights.
The detainees were wearing old versions of professional police uniforms from the neighboring state of Saxony and were carrying handcuffs and replica pistols. However, after their arrest, the men were ordered to remove their uniforms immediately.
Criminal proceedings have now been initiated against the fake officers for impersonating a public official and violating weapons laws. Meanwhile, the police car broke down and was subsequently towed.
