After the European Council summit in Brussels, the Polish Prime Minister spoke about the extremely difficult situation Ukraine is facing after the latest series of Russian bombings.

"I would like to appeal to everyone in Poland, without exception, not to do anything that could harm Ukraine. We will have to make decisions that will protect the Polish border and border crossings," the Polish Prime Minister said.

Tusk emphasized that the Polish authorities could not allow the crossings to be blocked, regardless of the reasoning behind the protests. "We cannot in any way harm Ukraine in a situation where the fate of the war is being decided," Tusk said.

The Polish Prime Minister reminded that border crossing points, according to the latest government decision, have the status of critical infrastructure. He said that the government is ready to provide further forms of assistance to those who have lost part of their income through no fault of their own.

I'm counting on reflection and rejection of this form of protest

- Tusk said.

He added that public services would work to clear the checkpoints. However, the head of the Polish government does not believe that direct coercive measures are needed in this case.

During the summit in Brussels, the leaders of countries also discussed strengthening Ukraine's air defense. On Saturday, Germany decided to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine. EU leaders called on other countries to follow Germany's example. This does not apply to Poland, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Poland, as a frontline country, must build up its air defense capabilities.
