In 2024, domestic companies will provide 70% of the value of contracts for the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov, UNN reports .
The agency explains that the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) is responsible for purchasing weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, the Defense Procurement Agency is actively developing international cooperation as part of its policy of direct interaction with arms manufacturers. The Agency has already signed more than 20 contracts with global arms manufacturers from 10 countries, mainly from Europe and the United States.
Maryna Bezrukova, the head of the Defense Industry Agency, emphasized that the Agency contracts only weapons that have been codified by the Ministry of Defense.
My advice to manufacturers: provide your products to the military and collect feedback. Equipment that is in high demand on the battlefield is codified much faster and is included in the list
She also noted that the timing of the delivery of equipment to combat units depends on the supply conditions and logistics. For example, the purchased DJI Mavic UAVs are quickly delivered to the frontline, while the production of new equipment takes longer.
Maryna Bezrukova assured that the Agency is making every effort to de-bureaucratize the processes so that the necessary equipment and weapons arrive at the frontline on time. This helps to increase the efficiency of defense procurement and strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
