In Ukraine, more than 20 thousand fires have already occurred in ecosystems in the first six months of this year, which is twice as many as last year. 500 of them occurred as a result of hostilities. This was reported by Svitlana Vodolaga, head of the press service at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, during a briefing, according to a correspondent of UNN.
In the first six months of this year, more than 20 thousand fires have already occurred in ecosystems. Compared to the same period last year, this is twice as many. In 2023, there were 10 thousand such fires
According to the presentation shown by Vodolaga, in the first six months of this year, 7 people died in ecosystem fires , while in the same period last year, 9 people died.
In addition, according to the presentation, 500 fires in ecosystems this year were caused by hostilities.
The fires we have in ecosystems and forests are mainly caused by massive shelling. In addition to rescuing people after shelling, our rescuers also have to extinguish fires in forests and open areas. But the problem is that rescuers cannot always do this safely, because in most regions where fires occur, especially after shelling, the territories are dangerous, full of explosive objects
She also reported where most ecosystem fires occurred in Ukraine.
According to her, there were more than 3,500 fires in Dnipropetrovska oblast, more than 2,500 in Kharkiv oblast, almost 2,000 in Kyiv oblast, almost 1,200 in Lviv oblast and almost 1,100 in Donetsk oblast.
