Ukraine confirms that since March 25, after the signing of the agreement with the United States, a period of cessation of attacks on energy facilities by both sides has begun. This truce was publicly announced on the White House website and received political, legal and international force. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Georhiy Tykhyi during a briefing, reports UNN.
The date of March 18 is purely invented by the Russian side, Russian propaganda, because it is the day of the call between Putin and Trump. This date was never mentioned, and it is, again, just a Russian fiction.
"In our opinion, from the Ukrainian point of view, agreements were reached in Saudi Arabia between Ukraine and the United States, given that we declare that we are ceasing any attacks on energy infrastructure. And you know that Ukraine shares a fairly detailed list of the types of energy facilities that are part of this agreement," the spokesman added.
In response to journalists' questions as to whether the publication on the White House website is an official enough text to have force, Tykhyi stressed that it has legal force and is an official enough statement to recognize this truce.
Russia has a long track record of violating numerous agreements, including agreements, then increasing pressure will be the best medicine to force Russia to return to fulfilling its obligations under the agreement, and we will work with partners to achieve this.
Addition
At the time of the briefing, Georhiy Tykhyi also stated that since March 25, after the agreement was reached, there had been no attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian energy facilities. However, the information in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was later updated.
In particular, AFP reported that Ukraine has accused the Russian Federation of violating its obligation not to strike Ukrainian energy facilities after artillery shelling cut power to tens of thousands of people in the southern city of Kherson.
"There was a shelling, which did not seem to be directed against the energy sector, but the energy sector was affected," a senior Ukrainian official told AFP, adding: "We qualify this as a clear violation."
Reminder
In a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) it is noted that the details of the ceasefire agreements on energy strikes and naval operations in the Black Sea, which officials from the United States, Ukraine and Russia reached on March 24 and 25, remain unclear.
