The documentary In Search of Nika, about Russia's crimes against animals during its invasion of Ukraine, premiered on April 19 and will be available on YouTube in Ukraine.

On April 19, during the telethon, the Ukrainian premiere of the animal documentary In Search of Nika, directed by Stas Kapralov, about the actions of Russians towards animals during the full-scale invasion, took place. Subsequently, the film will be available on YouTube only in Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, UNN reports.

Details

Nika is Stas's dog. At the beginning of the invasion, during the evacuation from Irpin, she was afraid of the explosions and ran away. Looking for her, the director began to film the reality. And when he saw how many crimes against animals the Russian army committed in the Kyiv region, he began to document them across the country to show the inhumanity of Russians through the story of innocent animals.

In November, the film debuted in New York at the DOC NYC festival, and in March it was presented in the program of the Swiss FIFDH Geneva festival.

This summer, the film will be screened at the Green Asia Network's big Asian convention in South Korea, which will bring together the world's leading animal and environmental activists. The rights to screen the film have already been acquired by Latvia, South Korea, Japan, Switzerland, Finland, Spain, Norway, Austria, France, Belgium, and the Middle East (Al Jazeera). The final stage of negotiations with one of the largest streaming platforms is underway.

The world needs to see these crimes because they demonstrate very well that lives - neither human nor animal - mean nothing to Russians. They do not need a reason to kill. It is enough that these are animals that lived on Ukrainian land.
