Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha reported that he held telephone negotiations with the new Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Anita Orbán; the parties agreed to hold consultations this week regarding the Hungarian minority in Zakarpattia, and also discussed Ukraine's path to the EU, which had been blocked under the previous Hungarian government, UNN reports.

"Over the weekend, I held a constructive and meaningful telephone conversation with the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Anita Orbán," Sybiha wrote on X.
He reported that he "thanked his colleague for the Hungarian government's principled and prompt response to the recent Russian strikes on Ukraine."
"I confirmed that Ukraine is ready to open a new, mutually beneficial page in Ukrainian-Hungarian relations without delay. We are ready to work with the new government of Hungary on all issues of our bilateral agenda, including national minorities, with the aim of restoring trust and neighborly relations between our states," the Foreign Minister indicated.
We agreed to hold another round of Ukrainian-Hungarian expert consultations as early as this week to find practical and effective solutions regarding the Hungarian minority in the Zakarpattia region, which will be beneficial for both states and our bilateral relations. Our goal is to ensure compliance with European standards and practices
The parties also discussed a "wider regional, European, and international agenda."
"Separately, I raised the issue of Ukraine's progress on the path to EU membership and confirmed our readiness for the earliest possible opening of negotiation clusters," the Foreign Minister indicated.
