British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said today that he would not "back down" or change his position on the US and Israel's war with Iran after recent criticism from US President Donald Trump, UNN reports with reference to CNN.
"My position on the war with Iran has been clear from the start. We will not be drawn into this war," Starmer said today in the House of Commons when asked about Trump's comments.
In his remarks yesterday during an interview with Sky News, Trump criticized Starmer's energy and immigration policies and said that relations between the UK and the US "have gotten better."

The President has repeatedly complained about Starmer's refusal to allow the US to use British military bases in offensive operations against Iran, which the UK considered illegal.
"This is not our war, and I have been under a lot of pressure to take a different course, and that pressure included what happened last night," Starmer told MPs today.
"I'm not going to change my mind. I'm not going to back down. Entering this war is not in our national interest, and we will not do it. I know my position," he said.

A Downing Street spokesman also told reporters today that he did not share President Trump's characterization of the current relationship between the US and the UK.
"Discussions between the US and the UK on trade and various issues are ongoing every day. This is a natural part of the special relationship we have with the US, and something we have had for decades, and it is something that will continue," the spokesman said.
