Sowing season 2025: farmers have sown over a million hectares of spring grains

In Ukraine, during the 2025 sowing season, more than one million hectares of spring grains have already been sown, or more than 18.5% of the planned area, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reports, UNN writes.

As of April 11, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 1,058.6 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops. Corn has begun to be sown in the Zaporizhzhia region

Currently, as indicated, the largest area of crops is barley –  612.2 thousand hectares. 141.1 thousand hectares of spring wheat, 182.8 thousand hectares of peas, 106.1 thousand hectares of oats, 0.02 thousand hectares of corn have already been sown.

Regions-leaders in terms of sowing:

• Odesa region: 107.2 thousand hectares (wheat – 6.1 thousand hectares, barley – 33.5 thousand hectares, peas – 59.1 thousand hectares, oats – 1.4 thousand hectares);
• Ternopil region: 88.1 thousand hectares (wheat – 14 thousand hectares, barley – 64.1 thousand hectares, peas – 4.1 thousand hectares, oats – 5.3 thousand hectares);
• Poltava region: 86.3 thousand hectares (wheat – 4.5 thousand hectares, barley – 69.1 thousand hectares, peas – 9.6 thousand hectares, oats – 3.1 thousand hectares);
• Khmelnytskyi region: 84.9 thousand hectares (wheat – 10 thousand hectares, barley – 69.8 thousand hectares, peas – 2.6 thousand hectares, oats – 2.5 thousand hectares);
• Mykolaiv region: 75.6 thousand hectares (wheat – 4.5 thousand hectares, barley – 43 thousand hectares, peas – 27.5 thousand hectares, oats – 0.6 thousand hectares).

Sunflower was sown on 51.5 thousand hectares.

Sugar beets are sown on an area of 76 thousand hectares.

Soybeans – on an area of 4.5 thousand hectares.
