Russia has officially commented for the first time on the incident involving a strike drone falling on a residential building in the Romanian city of Galați. Moscow stated that the accusations against the Russian Federation are "baseless." This was reported by Sky News and The Guardian, according to UNN.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Russia has seen no evidence of involvement in the strike.
"All the accusations we hear, particularly regarding drones somewhere in European Union countries, are unfounded. Not a single fact, material, or piece of evidence has been presented,"
At the same time, Romanian authorities officially stated that the drone in question was a Russian Geran-2 type UAV. Bucharest held Russia responsible for the incident.
The strike on the residential building in Romania has already been condemned by NATO, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and a number of other allies.
Sky News correspondent in Moscow, Ivor Bennett, noted that the pro-Kremlin newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets even suggested a version of an alleged "deliberate provocation" by Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin officially denies any involvement in the incident, despite the findings of Romanian services and statements from NATO allies.
Earlier, the President of Romania and Alliance representatives called the attack a dangerous violation of NATO airspace and another example of Russia's escalatory actions.
